JOURNAL 2 - WHY “CITY TO STONE”?

The Story Behind the Name

Boston Brownstone, Interior Design, Interior Designer

Boston Brownstone

Welcome to City to Stone—a name that carries more than just a nod to geography. It’s the heart of my journey, both personally and creatively, and it reflects the evolution of my design philosophy as I transitioned from the vibrant pulse of Boston to the grounded beauty of southern New Hampshire.

Southern New Hampshire

When I moved from the city streets of Boston to the rolling hills and granite foundations of New Hampshire, I experienced a shift—not just in lifestyle, but in perspective. Gone were the brownstones, brick alleys, and steel-framed skylines. In their place: fieldstone walls, wide-open skies, and historic farmhouses that stood quiet and proud against the natural landscape.

That contrast—urban grit to rural grace—sparked a deeper awareness in how our surroundings shape the way we live, feel, and connect with home. The modern edge of city architecture, with its clean lines and innovative use of space, taught me the value of intention and refinement. Meanwhile, New Hampshire’s weathered textures and timeworn materials reminded me of the soul and story that live in each imperfect stone.

City to Stone is my design philosophy in motion. It’s about blending these two worlds: pairing sleek, contemporary elements with grounded, natural materials. It’s about honoring structure and softness, efficiency and warmth. Whether it’s a downtown condo or a countryside estate, my goal is to bring both polish and permanence into every space—just like the journey that brought me here.

So thank you for being part of this story. I hope City to Stone inspires you to see your space not only as a reflection of where you are, but where you’ve been—and where you’re going.
